Asian-style Lamb And Broccoli In Garlic Sauce

Ingredients

- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 lb boneless lamb (cut into strips) or 1 lb chicken (cut into strips)
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon peanut oil
- fresh sliced mushrooms (any amount desired)
- 2 cups fresh broccoli florets (or to taste)
- 5 green onions, sliced
- 2 tablespoons minced fresh garlic (can use more or less)
- 3 teaspoons minced fresh ginger (or to taste)
- 1 teaspoon dryed red pepper flakes (or to taste)
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
- hot cooked rice
Recipe
- 1 in a medium bowl whisk together 2 teaspoons cornstarch with 2 tablespoons soy sauce until smooth; add in the chicken or lamb strips, toss to coat and let sit for about 30 minutes.
- 2 in another bowl whisk 2 teaspoons cornstarch with soy sauce, water and hoisin sauce; set aside for a couple of minutes.
- 3 heat sesame oil and peanut oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat for about 2 minutes (oils must be hot!).
- 4 add in chicken or lamb mixture and stir-fry for about 2 minutes (if you are doubling the recipe you will have to do in batches transfering one batch to a plate).
- 5 add in sliced mushrooms, broccoli florets, green onions, garlic, ginger and red pepper flakes; stir-fry for 2 minutes.
- 6 stir in the hoisin sauce mixture; stir-fry for 1 minute or until thickened.
- 7 add in the orange juice; stir until heated through.
- 8 serve over cooked rice.
