Beer Batter For Fried Fish

Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2-2 lbs cod
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry yeast
  • 1 cup beer
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 egg

Recipe

  • 1 dissolve 1 package dry yeast in 1/2 cup warm beer.
  • 2 add 1 cup flour, and a pinch of salt. stir.
  • 3 add remaining 1/2 cup beer and more as needed for "sticky run" dough.
  • 4 cover with a dish towel and let it stand in a warm place for a 1/2 hour or more.
  • 5 fold in egg and use immediately.
  • 6 dry fish fillets with a paper towel before dipping in batter.
  • 7 fry in hot vegetable, peanut, or corn oil.
  • 8 enjoy!
